Quadruple Threats' Supervised Visitation Program is a service offered for families within Mendocino County. By working in collaboration with the Mendocino Superior Court, Family Law Division we are able to provide families with on-site monitored visitation.
What is Supervised Visitation:
Supervised Visitation refers to contact between a noncustodial parent and a child(ren) in the presence of a neutral third party called a monitor. The monitor is responsible for ensuring the safety of the child(ren) and adults during visitation. The monitor is present to observe the interactions, physical, and emotional state of the child. If the emotional or physical safety of a child is threatened the monitor will intervene. The monitor reports to the court significant details of the monitored visit.
Why is this necessary?
There are many reasons a judge determines supervised visitation is necessary such as circumstances involving a parent's domestic violence, child abuse, child neglect, substance abuse or mental health issues. This could apply to those who are meeting their child for the first time as well. These visitations are designed to assure that a child(ren) has (have) safe contact with a noncustodial parent without being put in the middle of conflicts or other problematic situations. The service allows for the noncustodial parent and other approved persons to visit in a safe, private, and comfortable environment.
Benefit for the child(ren):
It allows the child(ren) to maintain a relationship with their non-custodial/non-residential parent.
Benefit for the family:
The most favorable outcome is to keep the child and parent unified in a safe manner. Having the parent participate with the program to the court's satisfaction is relevant. Those choosing to utilize this service as a tool to help their families go through difficult transitions can ensure the wellbeing of the child and family. Visitation should be an enjoyable experience for both children, parents, and other approved visitors.
Our mission is to assure children can have safe, conflict free access to parents not living in the home. Furthermore, we are committed to serving the under resourced population of Mendocino County. QTs is committed to helping families involved in court through the family reconciliation process so they may strengthen relationships and return children to optimal functioning and wellbeing.
Our professional providers have successfully completed the required certification according to the California Rules of Court, Standard 5.20 for Professional Providers of supervised visitation uniform standards of practice, Family Code Sections 3200 & 3200.5. Our providers have passed the necessary Live Scan criminal background checks and are registered with TrustLine.
We work on a referral basis primarily through the Mendocino County Family Court Services Division.
Once a referral has been issued by the court, both parents will be directed to contact our program. There is a four-step process used to ensure the program is a match for the need of the family.
Required documents:
It is upon successful completion of this process that a family is considered ready for services to begin. Once determined and approved, a family will be recognized as working with our program.
After acceptance to the program the final step is to review and discuss program expectations and signing of documents including an agreement for services.
